Studio Svitlo
It started with a small idea in Kyiv: an affordable studio where young creatives could dream, make, and grow. That seed has since traveled across borders and blossomed into Studio Svitlo: a bright, modern photo studio in our location Zuid West where inspiration is always in the air. At the heart of it all is Daria, an artist and entrepreneur on a mission to build creative community: one shoot, one story, one spark at a time.
“I’m Daria, originally from Ukraine. I’ve always been drawn to combining art and entrepreneurship, to create something that inspires. Back in 2021, I launched an accessible creative space for young artists. A place to experiment, make, and evolve. That dream moved with me to Amsterdam.”
“‘Svitlo’ means ‘light’ in Ukrainian. It’s something we all need, both inside and out, in order to create. The name is a tribute to where this journey began. I want people to feel that light within themselves when they step into the studio.”
“Studio Svitlo is a creative space, a photo studio where you can work in a safe and professional environment. It’s filled with style, inspiration, fashion, and all the tools for photo and video production. The very first version was called Podil.Studio and lived in the Kyiv district of Podil. Now, Studio Svitlo has found a new home in Amsterdam.”
“I moved here at the beginning of 2024. After the war in Ukraine started, I was looking for a safe city. When I visited Amsterdam, I just felt it. This is where I needed to be.”
“The creative scene here is full of life. People are open, bold, and unafraid to make things. That energy is so inspiring. Having a studio in Amsterdam has been an incredible experience.”
“Mostly creative and commercial photographers. Recently, a lot of students have been coming through, and I love that. They bring wild, original ideas. I’d love to welcome even more of them into the space.”
“It’s modern with vintage touches. There’s lighting equipment for photo and video, multiple backdrops, a makeup area, a chill zone, and tons of props to play around with.”
“Honestly, every booking brings something special. But what really stands out are the little community events with exhibitions, print-sharing nights, intimate meetups. They’re always full of warmth and connection.”
